Coenie Botha has been a below-knee amputee for 42 years. His current socket design is quite outdated, similar to what we’ve seen with previous patients. It lacks a silicone liner and vacuum suspension. This is raw prosthetics, where we manufacture a p-light liner and a supracondylar suspension, requiring a snug fit above the knee.
Coenie is a dynamic and friendly amputee, but his residual limb presents significant challenges. His skin is extremely thin and sensitive to pressure, causing it to break down easily. We’ve faced these issues for many years.
For the past 10 years, he has been very satisfied with his current socket, so we replicated it to create a new leg. He has been walking with it all week to test it, and the results are excellent!
Coenie, thank you for keeping me on my toes and for challenging my old-school skills. It’s been a pleasure working with you.
