Over time manufacturing techniques have changed so much and to the benefit of the amputee. Today it was proven again, as Mr Peet Burger has been on sockets manufactured in different ways that we do today. Nothing wrong with previous or different techniques, but the success rate and comfort of Ossur’s Direct Socket System (DSS) for Trans Femoral amputees, can’t be ignored.
Peet Burger is of the few lucky amputees to be fitted with a Micro Processor Knee and a Dynamic Low Profile ProFlex Torsion foot. When working with such high-end components, it is so important to supply a prosthetic leg which is very comfortable for the amputee and which alignment is spot on. You don’t want to be uncomfortable when walking with one of the best knee units available.
This video is his testimonial of how he experienced his socket, and for a 62-year-old Above Knee amputee with a short residual limb, he is walking really well! I am so happy with the end result, and Mr Burger can now go shopping with his wife with no more excuses. Thank you, Peet, for giving us the opportunity to be part of your prosthetic life!

Update on Peet Burger
29 May 2024
After a few months, we needed to replace the socket because the passings didn’t align well anymore, and it started to cause discomfort. Mr Burger is an experienced amputee and knows exactly how a prosthesis should fit in terms of comfort, stability, volume, and balance.
While working with a client, we experiment with different manufacturing techniques until they feel like the prosthesis is a part of them and not just an attachment.
This is how we achieved such a good result with Mr Burger’s socket, as it was tailored specifically to his residual limb.
Thank you, Mr. Peet Burger, for choosing us to be part of your prosthetic journey. We wish you all the best in your daily activities with your new comfortable prosthesis!
