Joe Kosterman came to see me 2 months ago. He lost his leg in the 80s and, over the many years of walking, got used to the specific leg system he wears. He is still on the “very old school” PTS system, with PE Lite liner and tight fit above the Femur Condyle.
I love manufacturing these types of prostheses, as it brings ability and hand skills back into leg manufacturing. What you make/do/manufacture is what you fit and what the amputee will experience. Joe’s residual has atrophied a lot over many years, and therefore, his residual limb is very skinny and bony.
His fit was challenging, and we had to make several socket adjustments in the test socket phase to get him comfortable. We supplied his final prosthesis today.
Thank you for the opportunity, Joe!
