The prosthetic socket you are fitted with acts as a tailored union between your residual limb and the prosthetic leg. It has to be designed in such a way that you will have the best possible control over suspension of the socket, its ability to bear your weight with the least discomfort, and for you to be as mobile as possible. Numerous socket designs have been available in the past, and one of three types of suspension is likely to be used for your transtibial amputation:
The Seal-in liner and the Alpha Gel liner are the two most widely used today, and the best possible system for your specific case will be manufactured to ensure that you have a comfortable and secure fit while at the same time you are fitted with a stable ambulatory platform. ![]() ![]() |
